The Mexico City Pride Parade

Known locally as the “Marcha del Orgullo,” the Mexico City Pride Parade kicks off at El Ángel de la Independencia around 11:00 am, though the start time often stretches to 12:00 pm. You can join as a spectator along Reforma Avenue or dive into the fun by walking the parade. Walking is always a blast, but if you prefer to watch, make sure to avoid the crowds at El Ángel. A great viewing spot is along Reforma from “Glorieta del Caballito” heading toward Zócalo. Arrive at 11:00 am to secure a good spot.

For those walking the parade, here are some tips:

Do's and Don'ts for the Mexico City Pride Parade 2024

DO carry cash for bathroom breaks; facilities usually charge 5-10 pesos and are in nearby parking lots on the side streets parallel to Reforma.
DO bring sunscreen and water.
DO wear light, comfortable clothing. This is your chance to express yourself—no judgment here!
DO sport a stylish but comfy outfit and shoes.
DON’T arrive too early. Start your walk around 1 pm to avoid waiting in the sun.
DON’T be shy about showing skin. Whether it’s a jockstrap, thong, or even nothing at all, there’s a place for everyone. .
DON’T be afraid to grab some beers from a convenience store and have a drink while you walk the parade. It’s a celebration day, and authorities are usually lenient.

If crowds aren’t your thing, walk through the side streets parallel to Reforma for a more relaxed experience without missing out on the fun.

What to Do After the Pride Parade?

After the parade ends around 4 pm, locals typically head to a friend’s party or go out to celebrate. If you are planning to go out, there are two main options: attend a special pride event or hit up a gay club hosting special pride festivities.

If you choose the first option, be sure to get your tickets in advance. If you’re brave enough for the second option, here are some recommendations:

Hit the Local Clubs

Start your night at one of the earliest opening clubs like Lx Locx, El Marra, Rico, or La Puri. Make sure to arrive no later than 3 pm to avoid long lines. After a couple of hours, take a break, grab some beers, or enjoy incredible cocktails at one of the 35+ spots recommended in our guide.
